Modern public transport requires infrastructure that is not only operationally efficient but also ensures maximum safety and a comfortable travel experience for passengers. In this context, LED railway lighting and structural upgrades to shelters are two key pillars.
FIDA Srl, a leader in integrated mobility solutions, recently completed an upgrade project at Treviso Station, delivering a modern system that fully meets RFI’s (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) requirements in terms of efficiency, safety and maintenance.
The challenge: modernizing the passenger experience and maximizing efficiency
The project was initiated to overcome the structural and lighting limitations of the existing facilities, focusing on regulatory compliance and improved user experience. As essential nodes in the rail network, stations require lighting systems that guarantee maximum safety and visibility at all times, in line with strict railway regulations for platform areas.
Carried out between June and November 2025 between June and November 2025, the intervention had a clear goal: significantly increase illumination levels to enhance safety for passengers and staff, while integrating technological solutions to ensure better energy efficiency and optimized facility management.
FIDA’s Solution
In this project, FIDA stood out not only as a technology supplier but as a partner capable of delivering a complete, integrated solution. The “turnkey” approach covered the entire project lifecycle, from the detailed design of the power system (normal, emergency, DALI) to the supply and installation of all components.
This integrated mandate included:
- Design and installation of the dedicated power system
- Supply and installation of state-of-the-art T-LED lamps
- Construction of the substructure and shelter cladding
The FIDA T-LED Lighting System with DALI Protocol
At the heart of the project is the new high-efficiency railway lighting system designed and installed by FIDA.
A total of 92 T-LED lamps, each measuring 1700 mm long, were installed. These luminaires were specifically selected for their high IP65 protection rating, essential for withstanding the harsh environmental conditions of outdoor shelters (humidity and dust). The adoption of these high-quality LEDs ensured a significant increase in illumination, fully complying with railway regulations and enhancing visual comfort for passengers.

The most innovative feature is the integration of the DALI Driver (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) in each lamp. This technology enables remote management of every single light point, a key principle of Smart Mobility. The DALI protocol allows dynamic adjustment of lighting based on real-time needs and traffic, resulting in significant energy savings and proactive, diagnostic monitoring of the network.
Construction of the Substructure and Shelter Cladding
Beyond lighting, FIDA provided targeted structural upgrades to optimize long-term management.
The project included the installation of approximately 13,000 m² of shelter cladding using ALUCOBOND composite panels. The core innovation lies in the design: the structure was conceived to be fully inspectable.
This choice provides substantial operational benefits for RFI:
- Enhanced control and simplification: safe and rapid access to all cabling and electrical systems, drastically reducing maintenance time and costs.
- Future-proofing: facilitates future upgrades and the integration of new systems (such as CCTV or Digital Signage for the transport sector), eliminating the need for invasive demolition.
